Your LinkedIn Ads conversion tracking, fixed

Your operator finds what is broken in your LinkedIn Ads tracking and fixes it.

What usually goes wrong with LinkedIn Ads tracking

LinkedIn tracks conversions through the LinkedIn Insight Tag on your site and the Conversions API on your server. With both, the click ID helps match a conversion to the ad click, and a conversion only counts for the campaigns it is attached to.

The click ID is stripped from the URL

A redirect, a single-page app or the tag manager drops LinkedIn's click ID, and conversions can go uncounted.

The Insight Tag runs without first-party cookies

Enhanced conversion tracking is off, so the Insight Tag cannot use first-party cookies, and LinkedIn warns this can cost you counted conversions.

The conversion exists, but is not attached to the campaign

LinkedIn only credits a campaign with the conversions that are associated with it.

Only the LinkedIn Insight Tag is running

There is no server-to-server path next to the Insight Tag.

Browser and server send the same conversion twice

No shared event ID tells LinkedIn they are the same conversion, so it is counted twice.

The deal closes months later, and LinkedIn never learns which lead it was

Qualified leads and closed deals sit in your CRM and are not sent back in time.

How we fix your LinkedIn Ads tracking

The same four methods run for every platform. On LinkedIn Ads, they look like this:

Server to server

The Conversions API connects your server to LinkedIn directly, next to the Insight Tag, with the same event ID on both, so LinkedIn counts the conversion once.

Server-side cookies

Your server-side tracking keeps LinkedIn's click ID as a first-party cookie, so it is still there when the conversion happens.

Client side

The LinkedIn Insight Tag stays on your site, with enhanced conversion tracking switched on.

Data sync

Qualified leads and closed deals from your CRM go back to LinkedIn through the Conversions API, attached to the right campaigns.

Adjusted to the country you sell in

Your tracking follows the consent choices and privacy settings you decide on for each country. LinkedIn makes you responsible for getting any permission your visitors need to give before data is shared with it. The Insight Tag and the server events follow what your consent tool records. Which rules apply where is a decision for you and your legal advisor. The tracking is then set up to follow it.
